Massage Cupping is a modality I have added to my Neuromuscular Massage Practice. Practicing since 1998, I have explored many modalities to add to my massage sessions to speed healing and insure my clients get the best result from their time with me. Cupping is an ancient technique dating back to Egypt around 3,500 years ago. The action of Cupping is negatve pressure, rather than tissue compression. It is safe, comfortable, and affords many positive results for many health disorders. Creating suction and negative pressure helps release congested, rigid tissue. It helps to drain excess fluid and is a great way to rid the body of toxins. Cupping lifts the fascia, loosens sticky, adhesive tissue, and brings blood flow to stagnant muscles and tissue. The pulling action allows a deep relaxation to move through the body because cupping engages the parasympathetic nervous sysem. Positve health results are many with Cupping and many condtions can be treated with Cupping. Skin discolorations can and do occur with Cupping. These discolorations are not bruises. When circulation is sluggish and inhibited, oxygen is not fully present in the cells, there is toxic build-up and stagnation. In Chinese Medicine this is known as blood poisen. Symptoms of this are pain and decreased function of the area. The longer the condition has existed the possiblility of darker discolorations is present. These discolorations can last from hours to 12 days depending on the level of stagnation present. As treatments continue the marks will occur less and less. These marks are not painful and the Petechia (slight subcutaneous discharge of blood) is not capillary rupture as in bruising.

Therapeutic Massage is the practice of applying pressure or vibration to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and joints. A form of therapy, massage can be applied to specific parts of the body or successively to the whole body, to heal injury, relieve psychological stress, manage pain, improve circulation and relieve tension. I incorporate many modalities in each massage, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology and Trigger Point Therapy. This is the “style” in which I perform most massages, but will always adjust to your needs or wants. I have been trained in other modalities such as cranial/sacral, acupressure, and shiatsu. If you are interested in any of these types of massage I can perform full sessions or incorporate into your regular massage. For this reason my fees are simple, I charge for my time not by type of massage. I have a private massage studio I share with a few other Therapists. It is a quit environment with relaxing music, candles and the scents of essential oils. You can step away from it all for a while and allow me to ease you muscle pains and tension away. I hold a bachelor degree in Business Management from Eastern Michigan University. I am Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB) and am a Certified Reflexologist. thru the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB). I am certified in Neuromuscular & Myofascial massage as well as LaStone Deepstone, LaStone Hot Stone and Bamboo Fusion Massage. I specialize in Myofascial and Neuromuscular Therapy where I work on people with specific problems with their muscles. I work extensively with neck and shoulder problems. I am constantly attending training so I can offer my clients new and exciting techniques. I am located in Harland Michigan at M59 and US 23.

My practice is all about giving the people I work with a body that can function free from pain. And beyond that, explaining the dynamics of the connective tissue system that is present in all of us. The devastating effect when this system is compromised is experienced at the least with pain. The exciting thing is, connective tissue pain can be reversed quickly, sometimes in as little as 30 minutes. The client homework I share with you at the end of your session (flexibility and strength) is designed to keep the work we do stable. It's your body and your responsibility to keep it flexible and strong if you want to enjoy a pain free lifestyle. Believe me, your time and effort is worth it! Finally, I don't "fix" anyone. I simply have some cutting edge manual therapies that facilitate and allow you and I as a team, to let your body do what it needs to do to heal.
