Types of Massage I perform: Swedish Massage Swedish Massage uses a system of long strokes, kneading, and friction percussive and vibration techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. Deep Tissue Massage Deep Tissue releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia. It is called deep tissue because it also focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Undress as much as you are comfortable. Keep in mind that clothing can hinder the flow of the massage. Generally, during massage you're nude underneath a towel or sheet and only the area of the body being worked on is undraped. The most important thing is that you are comfortable. When getting on table, relax under the sheet face up for first time clients and let the worries drift off. I will knock on the door to be sure you are ready. I start with the neck if face up and with the feet if face down. Gentle compressions turn into slow deep pressure to melt the muscle tissue to relaxation. This is your time, your recovery. It is not necessary to talk during your session, unless it is a deep tissue massage in which case I just need a little feedback about the firmness of my pressure. It is perfectly fine to fall asleep during a session. When the massage is complete, I will offer you time to enjoy the moments afterward before you get dressed. Take a few minutes to rest on the table. Sitting or standing up quickly can cause you to feel dizzy and nauseous. After a massage, I recommend you drink plenty of water to help flush the toxins released during your massage out of your system. For the past seventeen years as a massage therapist, I have worked with chiropractors and am proficient in medical massage. My massage career began in Park City, Utah where I worked in a high end spa as well as in a chiropractic office with a doctor and his two sons who were all chiropractors. Park City is a ski paradise so many of our patients were skiers or were involved in other Winter sports. A graduate of Utah College of Massage, located in Salt Lake City, I graduated at the head of my class. In 2002 after moving to Texas, I worked in a chiropractic office for seven years before transferring to Enchanted Rains Massage, located in Midlothian, Texas. Prior to my massage career I was Vice President and merchandise/operations manager for the Nutrition Center Division of Fred Meyer Inc., a multi million dollar retail firm operating in the North West. I was head of the department over 320 employees and seventy retail locations. My knowledge of health and nutrition is extensive, having worked in that field for over eighteen years.
