Our philosophy is that massage therapy is a powerful too to bring the body into balance and out of pain. Much of the pain felt in our bodies is because of soft tissue imbalances that create strain patterns that over time cause pain. Our bodies are continually fighting gravity and the day to day wear and tear of life by being plastic and compensating to do our daily activities. We are blissfully unaware of how much our body is twisting, and bending and compressing to adapt. This strategy works well. But over time these compensations lead to pain. We use advanced massage therapy techniques to unwind these compensations and decompress and straighten the body so that there is less strain to cause the pain. It really is that simple. The challenging part is analyzing the body for postural distortions and strategically correcting the tissues. That is where we come in. Our main modality for correcting the structure is Structural Energetic Therapy (SET). SET unwinds the body and brings it into balance. Undress as much as you are comfortable. Keep in mind that clothing can hinder the flow of the massage. Generally, during massage you're nude underneath a towel or sheet and only the area of the body being worked on is undraped. The most important thing is that you are comfortable. When getting on table, relax under the sheet face up for first time clients and let the worries drift off. I will knock on the door to be sure you are ready. I start with the neck if face up and with the feet if face down. Gentle compressions turn into slow deep pressure to melt the muscle tissue to relaxation. This is your time, your recovery. It is not necessary to talk during your session, unless it is a deep tissue massage in which case I just need a little feedback about the firmness of my pressure. It is perfectly fine to fall asleep during a session. When the massage is complete, I will offer you time to enjoy the moments afterward before you get dressed. Take a few minutes to rest on the table. Sitting or standing up quickly can cause you to feel dizzy and nauseous. After a massage, I recommend you drink plenty of water to help flush the toxins released during your massage out of your system.
