Practice Information |
The type of massage that I offer is a combination of modalities based on each client's needs. Most sessions start with a gentle rocking of the body. This helps me to determine which specific areas of the client's body need more attention. To relax the body and calm the nervous system, I generally start with flowing strokes. Once exterior muscles are relaxed, pressure is increased and I begin to work on more specific areas of the body. The massage is generally finished up with a relaxing facial massage and gentle circulation balancing.
Clients may also request aromatherapy massage, heat therapy, energy work, and chakra balancing - either as stand alone treatments or in combination.
Clients who come to the farm for a massage also have the choice of location for the massage: in my massage room, or weather permitting, out in the forest glen.
Besides offering massage therapy services, I lead monthly country living workshops on the farm and offer a variety of plants from my greenhouses. I also make and present herbal products and crafts for sale in my little shop on the farm and at festivals throughout the area. |

Bio: |
I was born in the mid-1960's and grew up on my parents' farm, where I now live and work with my husband Wade and our pets (2 adorable Schipperkes named Bart and Jack). I graduated from Clayton High School in the early 1980's, and went on to study Engineering and Fine Arts at Tulane University in New Orleans.
After college, my interest in herbs, alternative medicine, and man's relationship with nature led me to the healing arts - first, as an herbalist, and later as a massage therapist. I was director of the Herb Society of Wake County's herb garden (1995-1997), and served as the HSWC co-President in 1997. I also served as the newsletter editor, and as a board member of the North Carolina Herb Association (1997-1999). Since then, I have devoted my time to managing the farm and helping it grow into a place for learning and healing.
While caring for my favorite Aunt during her battle with thyroid cancer in the early 2000's, I discovered my talent for healing touch. Life changes paved the way for me to go back to college and study Therapeutic Massage in 2005. I graduated with a 4.0 average from the Therapeutic Massage program at Johnston Community College, and passed the National Certification exam for Bodywork and Massage Therapy (NCBMT) in 2006. Soon afterward, I became a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist (LMBT). |
