Bio
My name is Elica, I'm a licensed Massage Therapist, and Second Degree Reiki Certified - Okuden. I am also married with 3 children, and currently finishing my A.S. Degree so as to apply for the Physical Therapy Assistant Program this fall. For as long as I can remember I have always enjoyed helping others. So at about the age of 18 I began working in the medical field, later I was able I become a nurse for an Orthopedic Physician in South Carolina where I learned many things while working for the Orthopedics. After some years I had decided to go back to school to be a nurse, but after much thought I realized that I wanted to be a Physical Therapist Assistant instead, since I seemed to be drawn back to muscle and bones. However, like most people I took a detour on my journey to be a PTA and went to massage school, something I am very glad that I did. I attended the Florida School Of Massage in Gainesville, FL, where I really began to learn many more things, not just about the body and how to massage, but how to listen so I can really help others. After finishing massage school I took my boards and was licensed, and began working right away in my own practice. It was after about 6 months that I decided that I wanted to finish my schooling and get my PTA. My plans are to get my PTA license and in conjunction with my massage practice offer more to my clients. I have no doubts that with both I will be able to better meet my client’s needs. I care about each client that come into my practice whether they are a regular, or it's their first visit; and because I care about my clients I'm always looking to add new services to my practice that can improve health and wellness in their lives. I am the kind of therapist that listens whole listening so as to give the proper touch, pressure, and use the right modalities according to each client’s need. My intension is not to change my clients, but help create a better awareness, and if possible offer lasting results as opposed to temporary. Something important that I learned in school, was that it only takes awareness for change to occur, and that is what I keep in mind when working with a client.
