Bio
Monica became well versed in Anatomy & Physiology and athletic injuries as a student athletic trainer (S.A.T.) for Oviedo High School. Her passion for helping athletes return to competition after an injury led her to further volunteer as a S.A.T. for the University of Central Florida, where she had the opportunity to travel with the Knights from 2000-2003, work with the New York/New Jersey Hitmen (XFL) during their Spring Practice in 2001, and the Orlando Predators (AFL) later that same year. She finished her Bachelors of Science in Health Services Administration and graduated in 2005.
In Fall of 2005 she decided to further her career and attended the Florida College of Natural Health, where she completed the Basic Massage Therapy Program. Her continuing education courses have included Prenatal massage, Reflexology, and the Medical Massage Practitioner Certification.
She is a current member of the Florida State Massage Therapy Association and Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.
Practice Philosophy
Whether it's Conventional, Traditional, Western, Eastern, Homeopathic, or Oriental medicine - the bottom line should be a patients health and well being. At Health & Hope Institute, Dr. Chica and Monica strive to individualize care and produce a better state of well-being and balance for each individual that walks through our doors. We feel that healthcare should not be limited to curative medicine but also preventative, which is by far less taxing on the body and improves the patient's quality of life on a daily basis.
Why I Do What I Do
My fascination with anatomy (muscles and bones), how they work, and how it's all connected, led to a very thorough understanding of how the body functions, both normally and under stress and injury. I love sharing what I know with patients and empowering them to take control of their health.
Nothing is more satisfying to me than the instantaneous feeling of accomplishment as I have patients leave a session with decreased stress and pain, increased flexibility and more than likely a better night's sleep than they've had in a long time.
