Bio
Growing up in NYC, Patrice studied ballet and modern dance for 15 years, acting and piano, as well as yoga for over 20. In 1978 she was one of the first Shiatsu therapists in the US. She became a mountain climber in 1990 which is when her interest in massage turned from needing them, to wanting to learn to become one herself. She received her MA in Art Education and her personal work is primarily as a sculptor and illustrator. The elements of the sculptor and dancer are often present in her touch — both in the water and on land.

Patrice considers herself a land and water practitioner. Her land modalities are both Eastern and Western in nature. Introduced to aquatic bodywork, her massage reached a new level of joy and healing when she began studying Watsu® (water Shiatsu) aquatic body work, as well as Waterdance — where the work continues underwater even further freeing the body and mind. ”In a warm private pool you feel as though you are a leaf flowing down a stream where water offers the journey of time, space and wonder.”

Patrice has varied interests, living in New York for 40 years, she had the opportunity to study art, dance, acting and yoga. She has illustrated a number of books, including children's books and books on dinosaurs and dragons as well as writing and illustrating her own children’s book. At Gold’s gym and when the new Central Market was being built in Austin you could find Patrice on scaffolding doing one of her enormous murals. She enjoys the outdoors, including mountain climbing and walking her two favorite companions, Willow and Sage. Her diversity of experiences in both education and life makes Patrice someone you will thoroughly enjoy meeting. Also an avid cook, you might be lucky enough to enjoy some of her fine food ( and perhaps a glass of wine ) at the end of your massage.
