Bowenwork Health Center
Massage Therapist
Mount Vernon, WA 98273
Bowenwork Specialist Since 2004. Practicing Since 1985.
Specializing in Bowenwork Manual Therapy. Bowenwork Manual Therapy initiates a deep relaxation in the nervous system, allowing the body's innate self correction process to release imbalances and reintegrate. Excellant for Structural Integration; relieving pain and dysfunctions such as knee pain, back pain, frozen shoulders, plantar fascitis and many other repetitive stress.syndromes and conditions. Gentle. Most often resolution seen in 3 to 8 treatments. Relief felt.in first.treatment! Bowenwork is a significant Holistic and Complementary Therapy. It is designed to elicit the most dramatic of natural healing responses. How we work with you is quite simple and profound. Our role is one of assessing your present state of balance. You may come to us from a doctor, with a specific diagnosis. There may be body imbalances you are very aware of. You may have completed other treatments and haven't gotten relief. We will explore your history and assess your physical condition to know where you are best supported in returning to pain free balance. Bowenwork is about encouraging what is already healthy. In this, what is imbalanced, receives an important message about changing. Soft physical "moves" over muscles and other soft tissues trigger your body's ability to heal. Your Healing Response is revitalized with a Relaxation Response. Achieving relaxation supports calm; when the body is at this place of calm, its innate healing mechanism functions optimally. Bowenwork utilizes the body's natural neurological abilities, engaging an inherent repatterning process. If your condition has existed for some time, or it's a recent injury, together we will formulate your road to Wellness! Where does Bowenwork originate? Bowenwork was developed in Australia by the late Tom Bowen. His expertise advanced from skillful sports injury treatments to proficiency in pain elimination. The Bowenwork technique also revealed results with common ailments and dysfunctions. Interest in these specialized techniques drew others to study Bowenwork methodology. Today's Practitioners learn from highly qualified and Internationally Authorized Teachers. More about Tom Bowen >> Oswald Rentsch, one of the the founders of Bowtech®, the original Bowen Technique, was Tom Bowen's apprentice for many years. Since 1990, together with his wife Elaine, they have been traveling the world teaching the teachers of Bowenwork as well as advanced classes for Practitioners. Ossie and Elaine have inspired students and teachers to learn and work with the highest integrity of Tom Bowen's gift to the world. Benefits with Bowenwork Clients are amazed with Bowenwork Therapy Technique's ability to support their body's ability to change! Subtle skin contact movements begin unwinding tension. Within a few sessions, problem areas are significantly addressed. Chronic conditions shift when Bowenwork is received over a longer duration. Procedures applied with timely significance allow release old patterns. The "tissue memory" held by the original trauma is disabled and full movement can return. Bowenwork provides an environment where neurological functioning normalizes. With sustained neuromuscular balance, pain free performance returns. What is a session like? Bowenwork feels subtle. Short specific moves trigger the body's relaxation response. You may fall asleep or be aware of gentle sensations. Most clients report a significant release of tension. Some moves are more dramatic - especially where your body has held long term dysfunction and/or pain. Your body will shift, allowing regeneration and healing.

Ever since I was a kid I knew I was to be in the field of helping others. It took me a while to pin point the exact profession and what I was happy with. When I found massage it was like the universe hitting me like a nail on the head. I have built my practice to be about each individual and to satisfy each of your needs on a custom basis. My work is very versatile. I have a lot of technique under my belt but I base my knowledge and skill off of concepts. My work is done according to what I feel in that particular session and I may change my technique based off of what I feel. I specialize in chronic pain, scar tissue, injuries, musculoskeletal issues, chronic pain patterning (trigger point work, looking for areas of limitation causing structural and postural issues); infertility, women's pelvic pain, post mastectomy reconstructive surgery, pregnancy massage, and Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy. Professional therapeutic bodywork. Please mention this profile when you contact me, tell me your name, and what musculoskeletal issues you are experiencing. If you email me please be as specific as you can. Thank you.

I believe in simple medicine; often the slightest adjustment can reap enormous rewards. I pledge to listen to you and work with you as an integral part of your health care team. My goal is to uncover the underlying causes of your health issues and help you remove them when possible rather than suppress them. I treat chronic and acute issues in people of all ages. In addition to being your doctor, I strive to be a teacher, counselor, detective, cheerleader, and confidant. While my journey to becoming a doctor was a long one, it fostered in me an appreciation and empathy for humanity that I carry into every aspect of my life. I look forward to sharing that with you as I join you on your path to improved health and vitality~!

Gentle Intuitive Therapeutic Massage
I practice an eclectic blend of massage modalities, gathered over more than three decades of experience, and am constantly learning and refining my style. Underlying and encompassing all styles and modalities is the practice of Presence to my clients and their needs, with the qualities of Love, Compassion, and Non-Judgement. This means that whether you are receiving a deep-tissue massage, Shiatsu, or energy work, you are also receiving these qualities with my undivided awareness. My practice is in a Naturopathic Clinic with several other wholistic practitioners, including an N.D., acupuncturists, colonic hydrotherapist, mental health counselor, and energy worker. I have a great deal of experience working with people's pain issues, and many of my clients who have pain are referred to me from the naturopathic doctor. Since stress is at the root of so many conditions, stress relief and relaxation are a major component of every massage I give. I love to see my clients get off the table at the end of their session looking more relaxed, energetic, and flexible than when they arrived!
